2020 Haunted Halloween Happenings

This October looks a little different than most, with cancellations and adjustments to North Country’s favorite traditional Halloween happenings. However, there are still plenty of places to get your scare on in the North Country this year. From Trunk or Treat to haunted events, plan on attending one or more of these spook-tacular gatherings – and don’t forget your mask!

Littleton’s Gathering of the Jack-O-Lanterns

Trunk or Treat in Lancaster, NH

October 31 at 3:30pm – 6:00pm

Based in Lancaster, North Country Local is helping to coordinate 2020’s Trunk or Treat along with the Rialto Theater, the Lancaster VFW and Colonel Town Recreation. Beginning with a costume parade and contest at the Lancaster Motel for kids and teens at 3:30pm, kids can also join a pumpkin carving contest and get their candy fix from 4-6pm with trunk or treat on Main Street. Trunk or Treat participants must register by October 23 by contacting re********@co*********.com or la*************@gm***.com. Haunted Overload in Lee, NH

At the Demeritt Hill Farm, extra measures are taken to ensure this year’s events are equally safe as they are scary. Haunted Overload has consistently been voted one of the top 13 haunted attractions in the country, and with huge monsters, hundreds of lighted pumpkins, movie quality sets, and a full staff of actors, the walk through is an experience you don’t want to miss this year. The night time haunt is extremely scary and parental discretion is advised for younger or sensitive children, but there are also many days during daylight hours that they are open for the whole family to go at their own pace to enjoy the haunt without actors. Harvest Hoedown – Milan, NH

October 24 at 12:00pm – 3:00pm

Starting off with live Christian music at 3pm, this event is full of activities and contests. Upon arrival all kids under 12 will receive a sack for candy and prizes. They can decorate pumpkins to take home, get their face painted by a professional face painter (who is taking extra cleaning/sanitation precautions), and enjoy two smaller bouncy houses and a new massive bouncy house! Including carnival games, farm animals, tractor pulled hayrides, a marshmallow roasting fire pit, and more, the Harvest Hoedown is fun for all. Enter their chili contest, pumpkin pie contest, or apple pie contest for a chance to win great prizes.

The Dark Woods Haunted Event at Trombly Gardens in Milford, NH

Select evenings in October – 16, 17, 23, 24 & 30

Join Trombly Gardens in a haunted tour through the woods in the dark, and experience unusual creeps, creatures, and a unique cast of misfits. Tickets are $14 for an adult and $10 for 12 or younger.
