Local Love: Stories from North Country Businesses
This Valentine’s Day, we wanted North Country Local fans and followers to have a chance to share their story. We did not necessarily want to focus on romantic stories, but rather the fact that love can be found all around – in family members, friends, pets, and even hobbies. After reading all the lovely North Country Love Story Contest entries, which can be found at https://northcountrylocal.com/contest/lovestory/, we were curious about what love stories lie among local businesses. From customer first dates to couples starting a business together, it was wonderful to hear all about the North Country love. Here are some stories from local businesses:
Brittany, General Manager of Events at the Ice Castles Love Story
“Tom and myself are getting married next fall and have been together for almost 11 years. We are college sweethearts! BUT we both started working at Ice Castles about 6 or 7 seasons ago and love it. We have both worked various positions and this past season have both been promoted to General Managers. I am the GM of events and Tom is the GM of build. In all we both run the Ice Castles for NH!Working seasonal jobs calls for another seasonal gigs. About 2-3 years ago Tom and I embarked on opening up our own lawn care and plowing business on the off season of Ice Castles. Our company is called Mountain View Lawn Care based out of Twin Mountain. Working together closely year-round brings challenges but allows us to learn and grow as a couple but it also opens our communication up. Most people think we are crazy for working together so much but we truly do enjoy it. We know how to balance each other out and have fun.”
Stefanie, co-owner of Bella Funk Boutique
“Our love story would be all about our customers….
We are filled up with love every day. Love for our customers, which whom many we now call friends, and for all those who choose to walk through our doors and support us. Many days we get to witness a mini love story between customers, maybe a daughter who treats her hard-working mom to a surprise at the checkout and suddenly everyone in the room is in tears. The love that fills up our shop is infinite and truly magical. We are so grateful for it every day.”
Melissa, owner of the Maia Papaya
“We have definitely witnessed lots of first dates and relationships bloom over the years.”
